Quality Assurance Supervisor

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervision, coaching, training, and support of departmental engineers and inspectors in a manner that ensures that all safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and labor utilization goals are achieved.
  • Lead or directly support corrective actions and quality improvement teams with root cause analysis, innovative solutions, implementation planning, and more.
  • Effectively drive or support resolution to quality issues, as necessary, to ensure that customers are satisfied with quality product delivered on time.
  • Manage expense and capital budget for the quality lab to support testing, research, and inspection including fatigue, wear, tensile, material analysis, microanalysis, hardness, and more.
  • Manage the quality system to maintain effective utilization of systems including document control, gage control, nonconformance, internal audits, corrective actions, etc. Fulfill role of Management Representative for external ISO 9001 audits.
  • Manage and/or support the continuous improvement system within the facility, which consists of both team Kaizen events and individual contributions that enhance safety and quality and/or reduce delivery time and cost.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and consistently comply with all company policies, work rules, Union Contractual agreements, and applicable laws with little to no direct supervision.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Six Sigma / Black Belt Preferred
  • Ability to comprehend and perform engineering-related mathematics and statistics.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with print interpretation including GD&T, measurement systems and analysis, production part approval processes and tool & gage design.

Press room set-up & operation

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up and operate a wide range of primary and secondary presses for blanking, piercing, bending, re-hole, ballize or other operations associated with the fabrication or secondary operations of side plates and attachments.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and run to the high levels of efficiency and quality stipulated by U.S. Tsubaki standards maintaining close tolerances and work specifications.
  • Able to measure all quality parameters of chain components and determine corrective action where appropriate to the processes concerned.
  • Retrieve raw material and transfer finished components to subsequent processes to ensure continuous operation of equipment.
  • Assist, train and develop operators.
  • Track new programs through APQP process and monitor parts deliveries against customer delivery schedules.
  • Coordinates part availability with Materials, QA, Production and Logistics.

Requirements:

  • Requires sufficient knowledge of blanking/fabrication and other power presses, and tooling required to maintain close tolerances and work specifications.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining other types of complex mechanical equipment is essential.
  • Must have successfully completed an approved training program as to setting up and operating all equipment in section.
  • Strong mechanical ability is a must.
  • Trade school graduate or any additional training in the trades most beneficial.

manufacturing ENGINEER

Essential Job Functions:

  • Designs tools and dies in Solid Edge CAD software for sheet metal parts manufacturing including tool material selection.
  • Evaluate existing production methods, equipment, tools and dies for improvement and tool life estimates.  Redesign as required to improve performance and quality and provide retraining of operators as needed.
  • Design low cost automation systems.  Research and develop flexible/reconfigurable tooling for assembly of various MTO products.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to ensure efficient operation.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and determine Return on Investment (ROI) for project justification.  Make project plan, timeline, and presentations supporting M.E. projects.
  • Write specifications for acquisitions of new equipment.  Source and research vendors for machinery and equipment.
  • Write qualification plans and procedures for final acceptance of equipment and adherence to equipment specifications using statistical methods and design of experiments methodology.
  • Installation and commissioning of tools, dies & other equipment.  Prepare work instructions for production staff.
  • Participate in Design Review meetings with Product and Design Engineers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, escalating manufacturing and delivery issues as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering required.
  • 4+ years of work related experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD, lean manufacturing, metallurgy.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of math skills as they apply to tooling design and machining process.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Microsoft Office - Access, Excel, Work, Internet Communications.
  • Print interpretation including GD&T.
  • Engineering principles.
  • Ability to travel.

Millwright

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan and perform a variety of general maintenance duties to install, maintain, and repair production machines or equipment, attachments, or other apparatus or mechanisms as used in the various departments.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance duties on electrical equipment, wiring or making adjustments, repairs to or replacement of motors, controls, portable electrical tools, electric trucks or power lines.
  • Install small motors, light fixtures, switches, electrical hoist controls, fuses, etc.  Set up and operate a wide range of primary and secondary presses for blanking, piercing, bending, re-hold, ballize or other operations associated with the fabrication or secondary operations of side plates or attachments.
  • Tear down machines and mechanisms, determine the extent of troubles, repair damaged mechanisms, and/or replace worn parts and reassemble.
  • Occasionally set up and operate typical machine tools to perform turning, boring, facing, threading, grinding, honing, etc. or other related hand operations to properly fit and align replacement parts.
  • Perform carpentry work such as make work benches, office partitions, etc.
  • Perform simple pipefitting, painting and sheet metal work, together with necessary arc and/or acetylene welding and other maintenance duties.
  • Lay out and perform metal work or other necessary layout work to perform jobs at hand.

Requirements:

  • Work involves a variety of regular machine, bench and hand operations requiring a familiarity with the machinist trade.
  • Detailed knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, welding, and general maintenance drafts and skills requiring skill and judgement to tear down ordinary units, repair transmissions, direct a group of Class "B" Mechanics in the installation of new machinery and/or the relocation of present equipment.
  • Duties require a broad knowledge in several areas such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, sheet metal, pipefitting; general knowledge of electrical hand tools; regular blueprint reading, and the experience necessary for recommending machine modifications.
  • Requires sufficient knowledge of blanking/fabrication and other power presses, and tooling required to maintain close tolerances and work specifications.
