Quality Control Inspector - 2nd Shift

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform diversified inspection duties, involving inspection for quality, appearance and performance, on a variety of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished product, etc., with a variety of similar requirements.  Work from charts, tables, formulas, prints, parts and product data, specifications and general instructions of supervisor.
  • Duties consist of a wide range of activities to inspect incoming materials in accordance with specifications; diversified first piece sample or final floor or bench inspection of parts or product.
  • Responsible for stopping production in case of excessive defects.
  • Make required setups of standard gauging, measuring and testing devices together with necessary adaptations to perform a range of inspection to establish conformity to specifications.
  • Operate a variety of equipment following standard procedures, such as hardness tester; tensile strength tester; vibration, fatigue and endurance testing equipment.  Record results of inspection and testing activities together with summaries for interpretation and evaluation by superior.
  • Duties require knowledge of the use of a normal range of precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, fixed gauges, etc.  Occasionally improvise standard inspection methods as directed.
  • Perform special inspection or tests on product returned from the field or follow procedures and instruction on a new product or variations in product to establish conformity where standard procedures may be followed.
  • Segregate and mark rejected items as required.
  • Provide for minor maintenance of equipment, detect faulty operations and report need of major repair.  Care for measuring instruments and check all production inspection devices for correctness to specifications.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow standard safety regulations.  Detect faulty operation or defective material and report these and other unusual conditions to superior.

Requirements:

  • Use shop aritmatic.
  • Work from prints, specifications and product data.
  • Able to read and interpret a variety of measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of qualities of metals.
  • Equivalent of 1 to 2 years of trades training.

Our Holyoke, MA facility is looking for an individual to fill the position of Automatic Machining Centers: Set up & operate.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up and operate a wide range of metal removal processes and other operations associated to ensure that all equipment is maintained and run to the high levels of efficiency and quality.
  • Primarily responsible for set-up and operation of CNC, saw-cut/chamfer, Browne and Sharpe, bar loaders, bench grinders, surface grinders, chip and oil extractor and any tooling required to maintain close tolerances and work specifications.
  • Able to measure all quality parameters of chain components and determine corrective action where appropriate to the processes concerned.
  • Retrieve raw material and transfer finished components to subsequent processes to ensure continuous operation of equipment.
  • Assist, train and develop operators.
  • Work closely with other team members both inside and outside the section in order to satisfy the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Work from drawings, production schedules, work routings and instructions.
  • Select proper tooling, equipment, and materials for the job. Make any necessary adjustments to equipment / tooling in order to provide an efficient and quality production run. Must sharpen or replace cutting and forming tools as needed to produce a quality finish. Check work for conformity to specifications with fixed gages, scales, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
  • Comply with company rules for safety and security procedures. Take an active role in reducing the potential for accidents in the workplace via the appropriate channels.

Requirements:

  • Must have successfully completed an approved training program as to setting up and operating all equipment in section.
  • Strong mechanical ability a must.
  • Trade school graduate or any additional training in the trades most beneficial.
  • Requires sufficient knowledge of CNC programmed machinery, Saw Cut and Chamfer machines, Screw machines, and tooling required, to maintain close tolerances and work specifications.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining other types of complex mechanical equipment is essential.

Laser Express—Set-Up Operator

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set-up and operate a wide range of equipment used in the fabrication, production, and assembly of desired components and assemblies.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and run to the high levels of efficiency and quality stipulated maintaining tolerances and work specifications.
  • Able to measure all quality parameters of desired components and assemblies and determine corrective action where appropriate to the processes concerned.
  • Retrieve raw material and transfer finished work to subsequent processes to ensure continuous operation of equipment.
  • Assists, trains and develops new operators.
  • Work from drawings, production schedules, work routings and instructions. Select proper tooling, equipment, and material for the job. Make any necessary adjustments to equipment, tooling, programs, and process to provide an efficient and quality production run. Verify that work for conforms to specifications by utilizing gages, scales, micrometres, or other measuring instruments required to accurately check work.
  • Operation of the machines/equipment associated with all aspects of positions functions.
  • Ensure that all processes operated are maintained under control and that prompt corrective action is taken to prevent the process drifting from required operating parameters.
  • Follow all quality and ISO procedures and work instructions.
  • Comply with company safety and security procedures. Take an active role in reducing the potential for accidents in the workplace via the appropriate channels.

Requirements:

  • Must have successfully completed an approved training program as to setting up and operating all equipment related to the complete fabrication and assembly of desired components and assemblies.
  • Must be able to measure and inspect all fabricated and assembled product.
  • Equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft, or occupation; or equivalent to a 2-year technical college education or Journeymen designation.
  • Must be able to measure and inspect all fabricated and assembled product.
  • Use of advanced trades’ mathematics, including trigonometry together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, data bases, and formulas.
  • Use of all varieties of precision measuring instruments and all varieties of production related equipment including, but not limited to CNC equipment, multi-machine work stations, heat treat equipment, computers and specific technical software applications involving a thorough technical-skills knowledge (i.e. CNC programming), plus the application of basic theory.
